Neuroscientists at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine have made a dramatic breakthrough in their efforts to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease. The researchers' findings, published in the journal Science, show that use of a drug in mice appears to quickly reverse the pathological, cognitive and memory deficits caused by the onset of Alzheimer's. The results point to the significant potential that the medication, bexarotene, has to help the roughly 5.4 million Americans suffering from the progressive brain disease.

Add your commentHi Jkate , I am listening to all kinds of resurch and Pray something will work . I heard coconut oil was good for Alz . I still use it sometimes but haven't seen any results with my wife Brenda . God will help us some day .
Thanks Carol, it gives me hope too. It is such a long process to make it all the way through clinical trials, but I hold out hope for my dad and feel similar "wistful" (great word BTW) thoughts about having a conversation with him.
Hope the human studies are done soon and show similar promise. Thanks for the information, Kate. Whenever I hear things like this it makes me wistful … that it could be made available in time.
Uh-huh. But we aren't mice, and neither are our loved ones.
